Calculate your Body Mass Index
Use our free BMI calculator to find your Body Mass Index. BMI is a quick screening tool to categorize weight status and identify potential health risks based on height and weight.
⚠️ Note: BMI doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, or body composition. Athletes may have high BMI but low body fat. Consider our Body Fat Calculator for a more complete picture.
A healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9. This range is associated with lower risk of weight-related health issues. However, optimal BMI can vary by age, gender, and ethnicity.
BMI = weight (kg) / height (m)². In imperial: BMI = (weight in lbs × 703) / (height in inches)². It's simply your weight relative to your height squared.
BMI doesn't distinguish between muscle and fat. A muscular athlete and an overweight person can have the same BMI. It also doesn't account for age, sex, ethnicity, or where fat is distributed on the body.
